Recertification

Your CEIP certification is valid for three (3) years. Note that the valid dates are printed on your certificate. 

The Recertification fee is $150.00, and is paid on line. Please go to Check Out, and choose the appropriate menu item.

If certification lapses, the certificant must go through the entire certification process again.

Recertification for CEIP-MH

For CEIP-MH, recertification happens either through Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or retaking of the exam.

If you choose recertification through CEUs, a minimum of 30 hours must be completed in the following way:

  • 10 hours of equine-related training (behavior, horsemanship)
  • 10 hours of mental health-specific continuing education
  • 10 hours of attendance at equine interaction conference, workshop, or method training

Note: you must maintain an active license in your therapy profession to recertify and provide proof of this in your recertification packet.

Recertification for CEIP-ED

For CEIP-ED, recertification happens through Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Recertification through CEUs include a minimum of 30 hours that must be completed in the following way:

  • 10 hours of equine-related training (behavior, horsemanship)
  • 10 hours of education/coaching-specific continuing education
  • 10 hours of attendance at equine interaction conference, workshop, or method training


To recertify, please complete the recertification form and compile the necessary documents for your credential. Application for recertification must be submitted to the CBEIP by December 31 ( the expiration date) , every three years from your original certification year. It is the responsibility of the certificant to apply for recertification in a timely manner. CBEIP will attempt to contact you in advance and it is your responsibility to keep CBEIP apprised of any changes in contact information.

Failure to apply for recertification prior to the expiration date on your certificate will necessitate re-completing the certification process.
